Tom

I was beyond addicted. What started as an obsession turned into my new reality, and she was better than I ever thought possible.

Four days with Liv and my world was completely different. We sat in the car but didn't say much, as I tried to make sure she kept breathing through her panic attack. I thought about the last four days.

She made me laugh, at times caused my blood to boil, and put me through every emotion I thought possible. I realized that Liv made me feel. Besides the adrenaline I got on the court, I hadn't felt anything in years.

The morning of the gala flashed through my mind when we sat at breakfast, and her insecurities about whether I would want to see her in New York came up. I thought I made it clear to her that my intentions were not short-term. But here we were again. Her insecurities caused her to question us, and I realized how much pain her previous relationships must have caused her.

Total jackasses she must have dated.

Liv wasn't like any girl I dated. No, she wanted me. She didn't care about my money or fame. She only wanted me. It was new for me, but I knew in my soul that Liv wouldn't have broken her rule for me for money or fame. She could have done that with any guy, but she chose me.

Her insecurities about us were unwarranted. I believed, once we got back into New York and she saw that I was still there, that it would all be okay. She would see that she didn't need to worry. As much as I knew it was selfish of me to have brought her into my life, I had. There was no going back. I left New York with notions of what she would be like, and of what we would be like together, and it was more intense than I could have ever imagined.

I glanced over at her in my arms as she rested against my chest, calmly breathing. I stroked her cheek, she gazed up at me, and I pulled her in for a kiss. "Feeling a bit better?"

She nodded. Her beautiful eyes, with a hint of worry still in them, made my heart bleed.

I need to figure out how to assure her not to worry.

"Whatever comes our way, we will work through it, all right?"

She briefly closed her eyes and nodded again. I kissed her some more.

Not a bone in my body doubted that we could handle whatever came our way.

Except for him, went through my mind.

I hugged Liv tighter to me, sat back, and closed my eyes. I had almost forgotten about him over the last two days.

She could never know. I needed to call Phil as soon as I dropped her off. We needed even more precautions now that Liv was in my life. I would not let him get to her.

It was ironic, really. The most beautiful girl, inside and out, was cuddled in my arms, scared that I would leave her when the opposite was the real truth.
